As a survival horror game, it's purpose is to entertain. The aim of the game for the 4 survivors is to fix generators scattered across the map to power the exit gates and escape the killer without dying. The killer's aim is to use their abilities to hunt down the survivors and put them on sacrificial hooks: other survivors can get their teammates off hooks. Each survivor can be hooked twice without dying. On the third hook, the survivor dies. The aim is to sacrifice all of the living survivors to the "Entity".
